The xLath™ Inventor: Dean Newberry
Newberry's story with radiant heating and cooling started in the 1970s when his profession as a building trade's consultant brought him into contact with passive solar homes. These homes, which were cooled with roof pond and culvert wall systems, sparked an idea in Dean. He would work on designing his very own heating and cooling module that would focus on efficiency and cost effectiveness. In a span of over 30 years, Dean studied the successes and failures of different radiant systems, building science, materials, and methods in order to perfect his module. As result of his work, he become nationally recognized for his achievements and technological advancements in hydronics, radiant heating and cooling. Many years and successful projects later, Dean proudly stands by his patented and well sought-out invention, xLath™.
Dean is well liked amongst his community members for his philanthropic work, and is a key member of the Citizens Task Force on energy and other energy related volunteer and local resources commissions/organizations. Furthermore, he has enjoyed leading several seminars on residential passive solar design, and has held numerous conferences on renewable energy systems. Be sure to say hi to Dean if you see him cruising around town in his pearly white 2011 Chevy Volt. If you were wondering how he charges his car, lets just say that his home's PV system single handedly powers his eco-friendly vehicle.
